    my specs intel mb dh67cl corsair 4gb ram nvidia 560ti gtx i5 processor dell 22" monitor 1920x1080 firstly, i began using ubuntu last year. now im in love with it. just one minor detail i dont like is that the bootscreen changed just after the first boot. now im using 12.04.1. i will explain how it happened. first i installed ubuntu via windows. so it booted for the first time and life was beautiful. the resolution was 1920x1080. then i installed the nvidia drivers, all the updates and codecs for the medias. now the ubuntu bootscreen downscaled to a lower resolution. i tried searching for answers, but nothing was for ubuntu 12.04.1. since im a newbie, i didnt want to take any chances. i need help. i like the bootscreen.

What I get is only a screen with random background. I'm wondering anyone got a similar problem. Is it because of the v14.04? Thank you

    Hi, I have backupassist and I attempt to run a backup, with VSS service running. However, I get this error in Windows Event Log: The backup operation that started at '?2010?-?04?-?30T01:51:15.601000000Z' has failed because the Volume Shadow Copy Service operation to create a shadow copy of the volumes being backed up failed with following error code '2155348129'. Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved. Code: 521. The error in backupassist is: The backup operation stopped before completing. Detailed error: ERROR - A Volume Shadow Copy Service operation error has occurred: (0x80042336) The writer experienced a partial failure. Check the component level error state for more information.     Installed opscenterd on the separate node outside of the cluster, but within firewall ( aws security group ). Tested all possible ports between agents and opcenter server.     Hi all, I am using a RHEL server with a few hard drives, and tgtd as the iscsi target software. I a looking for a way to allocate and deallocate space and targets with that space, without restarting my system, or harming other LUNs. Currently, all my HDDs are PVs in a single VG, and I lvcreate/lvremove as required, and then export the allocated LVs using a tgt script: usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode target --tid=1 --targetname iqn.2001-04.com.lab.gss:300gb /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode logicalunit --tid 1 --lun 1 -b /dev/mapper/iscsi_vg-iscsi_300Gb /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op bind --mode target --tid 1 -I ALL /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode target --tid=2 --targetname iqn.2001-04.com.lab.gss:200gb /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode logicalunit --tid 2 --lun 1 -b /dev/mapper/iscsi_vg-iscsi_200Gb /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op bind --mode target --tid 2 -I ALL /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode target --tid=3 --targetname iqn.2001-04.com.lab.gss:100gb /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode logicalunit --tid 3 --lun 1 -b /dev/mapper/iscsi_vg-iscsi_100Gb /usr/sbin/tgtadm --lld iscsi --op bind --mode target --tid 3 -I ALL tgtadm --mode target --op show So in order to remove a LUN, I stop the tgtd service, lvremove the lv, and remove the entry from the iscsi target script When I add a lun, I run lvcreate, and then add an entry to the script and run it. This is not quite optimal, since restarting the service is a bad idea while other LUNs are busy, so I am looking for a more scalable and safer way. Thanks

  • Git push over http (using git-http-backend) and Apache is not working

    I have desperately been trying to get push for git working through the "smart-http" mode using git-http-backend. However after many hours of testing and troubleshooting, I am still left with error: Cannot access URL http://localhost/git/hello.git/, return code 22 fatal: git-http-push failed` I am using latest versions of Ubuntu (12.04), Apache2 (2.2.22) and Git (1.7.9.5) and have followed different tutorials found on the Internet, like this one http://www.parallelsymmetry.com/howto/git.jsp.     I have a problem in dvd drive i.e. It can read CD/DVD and can write CD and all CD/DVD-RW but cannot write DVD DVD drive model is SH-S203B Samsung; I also have a log file created by nero burning rom 11. Actually the fact is no Blank DVD's are being read in my dvd drive only previously written dvd's can be read! Is this the problem of OS or should I try cleaning the dvd drive or my DVD drive is 4yrs old so is it going to spoil now, since it is showing this type of symptoms!   • Opening an existing process

    I am using Eclipse in Linux through a remote connection (xrdp). My internet got disconnected, so I got disconnected from the server while eclipse was running. Now I logged in again, and I do the "top" command I can see that eclipse is running and still under my user name. Is there some way I can bring that process back into my view (I do not want to kill it because I am in the middle of checking in a large swath of code)? It doesnt show up on the bottom panel after I logged in again.     I'm using CentOS 5.4 on my dom0 with a stock Xen kernel. I'm attempting to use the pciback module to hide some of the Ethernet ports from the host and reserve them for a domU I intend to use for a firewall (process described here). However, when I launch the domU, I get the following error message: Using config file "/etc/xen/firewall". So my plan is to first cp all 2011-01-07 sql files into a tmp dir e.g. cp /backup/daily/*/*2011-01-07*.sql /tmp/all The command above unfortunately isn't working I get an error: cp: cannot stat ..... No such file or directory So can you guys help me out with this. For bonus points if you can tell me how to do the next step which is import all databases in one command doing one at a time that would be great too. I really want to do these in two separate steps because I need to delete a few sql files manually from the tmp dir before I run the restore command. So I need: 1) command to copy all 2011-01-07 sql files to a tmp dir 2) command to import all those files in that dir into mysql I know its possible to do in one but for lots of reasons I really would prefer to do it in two steps.

  • How to boot XBMC 10.1 ISO on USB via grub?

    I am trying to boot the XBMC Live image (http://xbmc.org/download/) as ISO from USB via grub 1.98. I have a Kubuntu 11.04 image there as well already and it works using the following configuration: menuentry "Kubuntu 11.04 64bit" { loopback loop /boot/iso/kubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64.iso linux (loop)/casper/vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/boot/iso/kubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64.iso noeject noprompt initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.gz } However, if I try to boot XBMC in an analogue way, I always get an error "Unable to find a medium containing a live file system". I found different approaches to install XBMC, but they all are about installing the distribution on USB, or using grub4dos, or unetbootin. I already found out that XBMC 10.1 is based on Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS, so I tried those settings - even though they are quite similar to Kubuntu 11.04. Finally, the ISO contains a grub configuration as well in boot/grub/grub.cfg, but even with those parameters, I get the error above. But as you can see the Server load is way to high and thats why some sites take up to 10 sec. to load! Server load 22.46 (8 CPUs) (!) Memory Used 36.32% (2,959,188 of 8,146,632) (ok) Swap Used 0.01% (132 of 2,104,504) (ok) Server: 8 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31230 @ 3.20GHz Memory: 8143680k/9437184k available (2621k kernel code, 234872k reserved, 1403k data, 244k init) Linux Yesterday: Total of 214,514 Page-views (Awstat) Now my question: Can I shift some of the CPU usage to the RAM?     Hi, I'm experiencing the following: I created a UIView subclass with a CATiledLayer as backing layer by overriding the layerClass method. Everything works fine but when zooming the scroll view keep repositioning itself on its center. It's hardly noticeable when zooming in the center of the content, but unbearable otherwise. The same scroll view works fine when I use as (zoomable) content any other view such as an UIImageView or even a normal UIView with a CATiledLayer with the same properties and delegate of the subclass implementation as sublayer.
